I've no doubt this question has been asked before, but anyway, here's my version:

1. Current

Species that you've fished for this season or plan to during the next one.

2. In the Past

Species that you've enjoyed catching in the past and may fish for again in the future.

No Interest

Species that you don't really interest you as a sporting quarry.

Here's mine:

Current - Barbel, Roach, Chub, Rudd.

In the Past - Tench, Carp, Perch, Grayling, Dace.

No interest - Trout, Eels, Bream, Pike.

Current: perch, pike, bream, tench

Past: just about all coarse fish + brown and rainbow trout in freshwater

No interest: I once said I'd never fish for giant bream as they're almost entirely nocturnal and I don't like being woken up at 2am. Now I fish for them a fair bit. So I wouldn't rule anything out!

Mine are:

Current - Tench, Perch, Bream and anything that comes along when trotting (usually chub and dace)

In the Past - Carp and Barbel.

No interest - Eels and Pike (I am not willing to use treble hooks)

There are alot of species that I'd like to fish for given the opportunity, I only really like fishing places where I'm unlikely to see anyone else so given the opportunity I'd like to fish properly for:

Roach, Grayling, Carp, Barbel and I'd really like to try mullet and sea bass fishing.

Finally I've had ample opportunity to target large rudd but its on of those things I've never really gotten around to.

Currnet Pike, perch, chub. In the winter Summertime its barbel and tench mainly

In the past I did use to do a lot of carping back in the late seventies and eighties but i really cant be arsed with it all now.

No interest Theres nothing i wouldnt have a go for given the chance. Im happy as long as im by the water.

Fished for everything, still do and theres not much that doesnt interest me other than artificial fishing ie small ponds with giant fish chucked in,ornemental species or (must be a word for it but Im not to bright) fish that have been put into enviroments they shouldnt be.Or anything with a bloomin name!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

What do I fish for?

Currently.

Enjoyment, pleasure.

In the past.

Just about every 'native' fish that swims, (as long as it gave me enjoyment or pleasure).

No interest.

Mongrel carp, fish from any overstocked 'fishery', fish that are introduced just because someone thought it was a good idea, (regardless of impact on the endemic species, and ecology of the water), species that have been stocked to create a 'profitable' fishery (that includes most of the above), (like Budgie) any fish that has been given a name (I'm quite capable of giving most of the above a variety of names), species that certain groups think are a 'special case' and deserve more care and attention than any of the others, (I could go on but I'll spare you all one of my rants :) ).

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John
