Hi all, can anybody help this visitor to the site?

Hi,

For the past 20 years I’ve been coarse fishing but now I would like to get into carping. I’ve just bought a cheap carp rod and reel to start me off with but I don’t know what other equipment I should buy to start with; I’m just wondering if you could let me know what equipment I need, please?

Thanks, Ian.

Cheers, Julian

all i'd say to get is. Some leger weights, shots, some floats-stick floats or bubble floats and then some size 6-8 hooks and bait really.

hello...

Depending on the type of lake you are going to fish, would depend on the type of tackle you would require.....but a rod an reel is a start!!

do you intend to fish a float or a ledger style set up? is the lake well stocked? is it a big lake? answer these and i will try and help you,if i can....

Well, im a begginer and i had to look around. I got the basics:

1. rod&reel which is a good start.

2.a spool of 10 to 15lbs and put it on to your reel.

3.leadgers, baiting needle, bating drill, boillie stops, boillies and a lead clip set.

4.a rod pod with butt grips, swingers and front rest.(ebay is cheap)

5.(optional)bite alarms swingers will do as a starter.

6.ready made hair rig.

Then you will be ready for a few sessions of carping.

For more info look on my website it tells yopu rigs and stuff.

you dont really need a rod pod lots of people just use 2 or 3 banksticks. With a rod pod u cant put it on steep banks that easy. With bank sticks you can take up a whole swim like this | / and a rod pod clumps them together like this ||| and thier cheaper. so if u dont realy want to spend that much on a rodpod banksticks are just as good.

to get carp fishing you will need

1.a spool of line arond 12Lb mono or braid.

2.some ready made hair rigs.

3.a baiting needle and baiting drill.

4.some ledgers.(or method feeder.

5.landing mat.

6.landing net.

7.boilie stops.

8.banksticks/rodpod.

9.bait(most people use boilies or pop ups)but you can use any bait that a carp would eat.

10.bite detector(bite alarm,swinger, quiver tip, swing tip).

11.and all the other little bits e.g lead clip action pack.

and you should do some research around the internet so you know general tackle and how to use it and rigs. and now your on your way to catching your first carp.

good luck.
