Stuart McPherson - Angling Trust

Dont know what I can say about Stuart.

On the good side - So far he has been ok with us up here. Kept us informed, sent us the minutes for the Yorks and national NFSA meetings even though I am not a member of the organisation. He is not a secret squirrel (Yet).

He got the local clubs involved on the Flamborough no take zone (Even though they are affiliated to NFSAS to NFSA) and he got Paul involved with the countryfile thing about article 47. He also reads and contributes to our forum, or should I say he did. I doubt he will continue but we shall see.

On a less positive side, he doesn't fish very often and he tried to sensor me over bag limits in the RSA strategy response.

Will he become just like the rest once in post - A yes man to DEFRA. I hope not but Id bet my last dollar on him doing so.

Also he's Scottish (not sure if that is a plus or a minus).

That isn't a song I just Googled - it's one I like. I have it here on tape, by a group called North Sea Gas. I just hope it isn't an omen :D

In all seriousness, good luck to the guy (if he is taking the helm). It will be interesting to hear what his views are.

I've had conformation of Stuart's exact role from Mark Lloyd of the Angling Trust. A press release is to follow, so I'll add further details when it does.

Mark Lloyd is attending the B.A.S.S AGM tomorrow (15th March) by invitation, so if anyone has any questions, post them here by 09:00 Sunday 15th and I'll ask them on your behalf.

Cheers

Steve

Stuart is our newly-appointed Marine Director (Board Member).

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Thankyou Steve.

My Question is -

Does the angling trust support or oppose sea angling quotas for UK boat anglers.

The question is in relation to article 47 and relates to all fish species.

Hi Glenn

Sorry - but your post was made after the AGM finished and I was on my way home

However - I did ask Mark about how anglers could communicate their concerns over issues such as Art 47 and his reply was along the lines that they are developing several lines of communication, including regional representatives, email, via AT's website.

I feel confident enough that a punt for the next three years is a reasonable investment for a decent representative body and will review my subscription based on what has been acheived in 2012.

Cheers

Steve

Sorry Steve,

I misread your post, I thought it was 9pm. My fault entirely. But thankyou for your offer to ask questions. Its a shame noone else posted up - opprtunity missed I think.

I was a member of the NFSA for a year but then decided the whole set up was a waste of money and only following the set agenda of a few people rather than the masses. I let my membership lapse and don't think I will renew it.

Stuart Mcpherson seems to have started on the right track and appears more willing to tackle the real issues affecting our sport. Commercial fishermen being one of them. I note the AT press release does mention commercial fishing and this has to be a first. Lets hope they can stop the NFFO dominating proceedings with DEFRA and the EU. Maybe then I would put my hand back into my pocket. If they carry on with this RSA strategy, bag limits, codes of conduct, anglers are to blame caper they don't deserve a penny.

With a new name and a new leader the Angling Trust has a chance of a new start. I hope they take it rather than going back to old an unproductive ways.
