My first ever rod was a Shakespeare match rod....

3rd time out, one of the eyes went. Rather gives a jaundiced point of view about the brand IMO.

I knew the shop owner and he replaced it with a D.A.M match rod, which I still use.

I have a D.A.M feeder rod and a Daiwa match rod.

My carp rods are a pair of Rangemasters (thank you Mum!) - they do all I want and a lot more. It's still a pity that D.A.M went out of business. I suspect that the quality of the revived D.A.M may suffer a little. I still have 5 different D.A.M reels which are really reliable workhorses - so much so that I use the largest of the reels for fishing carp off the top.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine
