Reckon your garden pond need a pike!

Having a licence to fish is just that, a licence to fish. You still need permission to fish a privately owned river, just as you do a lake.

The worst that they can do is too deport you, confiscate your tackle, they might even take your rod & reels, and then there would be a small matter of tresspass.

A fishing licence doesn't actually give you permission to fish anywhere as such. You still need to obtain permission, which is usually in the form of a day ticket or season ticket.

There are free stretches of river, pools etc around, but they are quite few compared to the total amount of water.

I don't think you should really be asking what's the worst that people can do to you, because that's more or less saying you want to see how much you can get away with.

Put yourself in the position of buying a season ticket and then someone else is deliberately fishing without one. I'm sure you would feel annoyed, particularly if the other person knows exactly what they are doing.

If you want free fishing, try your pond. :D:D:D

Or move to the US where your license gives you the right to fish any 'public' waters and around 99% of the water here classes as public.

You can't trespass on private property but every lake/river I know of has lots of public shoreline and if you launch a boat, you can fish anywhere.

i don't no why all the rivers are not open to all on a day ticket basis as i would be willing to buy a day ticket but £25 seems a bit steep for a days fishing

so if i launch a boat on the river derwent in derbyshire i can float down the river in the middle of the chatsworth estate and fish is that what you are saying
