IMO the perception is that service is poor and getting worse by the year.

My postie didn't like it when I pointed out that the large white number on a larger black slate adjacent to my door was not the same nuber as the letter he had just pushed through my letterbox, and that if I made as many mistakes in my job as he did in his people may well die.

He was also a tad miffed when I got into my car and drove around the corner to catch up to him and return another misdelivered letter, passing the correct door in the process... well it aint my job to do his job!

He may be stressed up, so am I, he may be overworked, so am I sometimes, he may be underpaid, I think I am, its not excuseable when it keeps happening.

Oh and whats with the postie delivering local papers as well as his mail round, and leaving his unattended bag at the end of the street?

Our perception of time as an orderly sequence of regular ticks and tocks has no relevance here in the alternative dimension that is fishing....... C.Yates

Ours comes at about 11-12 in the morning these days, which means that any work-related post tends to be carried over to the next day now.

There's a review of the postal service due out soon. I just hope they don't do away with the ground level staff, just to make jobs more secure for the management.

elton one thing i can tell everyone is that deliveries are going to be later next year , whether this is what the customer wants is a different matter.we had 3 start time changes, last year, all later and in their arrogance(royal mail)did not bother to inform none of the business or customers once.

The salary of the chief executive of a large corporation is not a market award for achievement. It is frequently in the nature of a warm personal gesture by the individual to himself.

The delivery of our mail (I know, different since it's the US mail service) depends on whether it's our regular carrier or a substitute. This time of year it does take longer to get the mail but we usually have it between 10:00am and 11:00am. Our subdivision reused the same house numbers with different street names - all in very close proximity. So we get mail for 13XX Rosehill (us), 13XX Roseberry (a few houses down in a cul de sac) and 13XX Summerwind (not even near us). Little quality in delivery. BUT, the one thing the US Post Service does do at Christmas time is have extra trucks delivering only packages - and many of them on SUNDAY leading right up to Christmas. No extra charge (well, except the postal rates going up AGAIN in January).

Our carriers must wear a uniform (at least in Milwaukee where my sister-in-law is a mail carrier). We never see our carrier because she delivers from her mail truck to mailboxes located street side. For summer they can wear shorts but they are to the knees and match the long pants worn during colder weather).

We don't have a postie, got to collect your own from the post office so this gives you a chance to chat to people you know but don't see very often, and a chance to catch up with whats happening around town.

The townsfolk were asked a few years back if the wanted their mail delivered or to carry on with the post office box.

They elected for the boxes so they could socialise.

Cheers Fred

Our Post arrives usually between 4pm and 5.45 pm...Absolutely terrible service now...they took our posty ( Jimmy) off the run he had done for 12 years, and you could set your watch by him...and stuck him on a run he has no idea about....and gave us a posty ( very nice guy tho') who has'nt a clue about the run he has now...seemingly all caused by new management ideas...:(:(

I've found a way of getting our post early.....have a parcel delivered!

We got ours at 7:45am today, because Anne (the postie) had to make a separate run on her bike to drop off a parcel.

I feel guilty now :(
