A Charity Pike Fish In

JackPike

Recommended Posts

Was it a full moon or something last night - I've reviewed some of the posts this morning and everyone seems to be battling with everyone else!

What's so bad about a pike fish in ? It's not promoted as a match - is it ?

More an opportunity for like minded people to get together and fish for pike. Opportunity for the more experienced to pass on tips and hints with regard to pike welfare even.

I don't remember seeing such negative remarks when Stoney and Friends offered exactly the same.

Please explain why JP's attempts are so wrong ?

We are supposed to be having a pike teach/fish-in sometime this month anyway. Don't remember anyone having a go at me, what's the problem here

No problem Lyn. Can't see that JP's post has been edited but am certain that it mentioned 'match' in the original thread title.

All for quality 'fish-ins', and especially 'teach-ins' when they are for the right reasons and not just an excuse for a match by another name.

If I read it wrong then apologies to JP. It might be an historical thing because JP has been keen to promote pike matchesin the past.

Nevertheless I go with the general guist of FenBoys rather disageeable comments. My feeling is that except in exceptional circumstances we should leave pike out of this sort of event.

Should we have charity barbel fish-ins?

Peter,Why not, and why not Bream and Roach? I think you should apologise a bit more strongly to Jack Pike, not with reservations re him editing his post.

If it were my post I would be construeing that you say I were lying!

Why don't you and Fenboy get off your high horses regarding pike and accept that they are just another fish.

what i dont understand is where the charity bit comes in, what makes a pike fish in different to a charity pike fish in??

(and on a slightly different but still related note...) why do people do sponsored swims, walks, fish ins etc etc, if you really want to do some good dont get people to sponsor you for something you would do anyway, get people to sponsor you picking litter up off the roadside or river bank, or cleaning old peoples windows, or doing the shopping for the disabled bloke down the road etc etc. what i'm saying is put your time to good use and get people to sponsor you for that.

Ok lets put the record straight it is not a match there will be an entrance fee for a raffle so it doesnt matter if you catch or not for a prize so theres no pressure on anglers to catch a fish or any fish to be retain. There will be no cash prizes as monies will be donated to a cancer charity. Yes I have ran ACA qualifiers in the past but due to constant bickering i do not any more but thats a different topic back to the subject should be a fun day out

He who simply trys, Is not trying hard enuff

Peter you are a bit behind as usual :P Charity barbel fish-in have been going on for years and if I am not mistaken (I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong ) The first one was started on here with the 'Gordon Scott Memorial Fish-In'

spot on lyn, those where the days, :)

fish-ins of all types are most welcome by me at least, as long as there are people there to help out the less experienced with fish care, no problem at all.
