My cat would not go out in weather like this.

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

I have two peanut feeders, two wild bird seed feeders, a black sunflower seed feeder, a fat ball feeder, a niger seed feeder, a square fat ball feeder that I put apples cut in half in, two bird tables, a hanging water thingy and a bird bath.

I also put out old fruit and wet bread on the ground.

I buy all of the feeds in bulk as it saves alot of money.

Dead maggots are a great feed to put out on a bird table or ground feeder.

Rudd,

My good lady buys in bulk and is supposed to sell in small packets.

The truth is the birds up at the garden centre are the best fed on the block and because of the low profit margines I have to live on bake beans on toast. :(:D:D

But as the sun comes up and you hear the dawn chorus whilst you sip a cup of tea and evening song as you relax; eating bake beans becomes less of a problem. :D:D

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM

Wild bird seed, bacon rind, some cheese, home-made fat/seed things either in a half coconut shell or in a block on the top of the table, bread, left-over maggots. In the summer, peanuts hung on a string (I remember reading somewhere (possibly a RSPB newsletter) that you shouldn't put peanuts out when the birds are raising chicks, the pieces of peanut can swell up in the chicks' stomachs and could kill them).

Agreed, those delivery drivers must get very thirsty driving around in their vans all day.

As for the birds, we put out any scraps that are suitable, plus we have 2 or 3 fats balls hung up, niger seed & wild bird seed mix on/around the bird table & a feeder of sunflower seed hearts. I reckon we've got the best fed Starlings in our street.
