Baitrunner Reel advice

I have 3 of the Shimano 5010 bait runners (still in there boxes), my pb Carp of 32lb on 16lb line was no problem. Matched with the rods they are on, well all I can say is brilliant.

Ten years old (the reels) and still in perfect nick, will cast a lead and boilie 75 yds no problem. They are also good for surface fishing with a controler.

I can't comment on other reels for carp fishing as I have never used any but I am using a (borrowed)Shimano 1000 with 5lb line for Mullet fishing, oh and have had no problems with a Silstar GXB40 for Carp and Pollock, great sport.

Good luck with what ever you decide on.

Cheers Squire.

I'll be having a peruse of the net this weekend & placing my order.

Thanks very much to all for their advice. At the moment I'm definately leaning towards the Shimano's - but then again the Diawa's sound good & there's always that Maver - Oh shoot - I just can't decide!

I'll let you know how, whatever reel I go for, performs.

When we upgraded the forum software for Anglers' Net a few years ago, many of the links from the old forum were broken. Part of my 'job' for early 2009 is to fix these, which I have done so for this thread. I haven't checked the destinations, I've just made them 'clickable' to the address that they used to goo to, so please PM me if you find any that have moved, giving as much detail as possible. Some of the links may have been 'unclickable', if it was impossible to work out what they should have been.

The only way I can spot relevant threads is a report in the server logs that somebody has recently tried to click a broken link. For that reason, I'm tagging this post onto each thread that is affected, as it may be that the member who clicked it will want to try again.

I'm hoping that the threads may be of interest to other members, though, and some old discussions may continue.
