When is the best time of year to go carp fishing? (for my website)

May through September on the lake I fish. Depends upon weather of course. Some years the weed growth makes what was a prime time the year before crap and you get your best period is as it dies back.

 

If you are looking for generalised answers to questions of the type you are posting then a general book of angling such as "The Encyclopedia of Fishing or The complete book of fishing" will give all these stock answers in a single reference source.

 

Carp, tench and Siluras = Summer.

 

But the real valuable information is how to prize one or two out in winter. I don't know the answer cos IMHO life is too short once you reach 40 like me to spend it on winter carping.

PS. my PBs for Mirror and Common Carp came in September from Dovecote. My old PBs from Briarwood came in May. My first ever double and my venue bests for Tear Drop Two came in October.

 

Also remember water cools and heats up quicker than land. Bigger fish cool down more slowly than small ones, but smaller fish warm up more quickly in spring.
