Open Office / MS Word

I you are using Open Office and someone sends you an email with an attachment in MS Word, would you be able to open it?

Yes. Or with a considerable number of other text editors too. Problems can be caused if they've gone berserk with tables and html and all manner of other nonsense, but even then, you can usually read it just fine – it just may not look exactly how they intended.

Open Office seems very good at displaying Microsoft Office documents as they were meant to be shown - I would never buy MS Office with my own money now.

I use OpenOffice to read Word documents. I also create documents and save/send them as Word files.

no it doesnt nor my lotus smartsuite stuff either ,uninstalled it bye bye

.pub files? Lotus Smart suite? Don't you need one of the original Amstrads to be able to use those?

no i have a mag cover copy from 1997 thats fully working and all but a couple of suits still do ,i prefer word as its easier to use with graphics than office trouble is office cannot open the files

i have lots of .lwp ones scattered about so still need lotus word

.pub files are publisher you need the non home office to get publisher included with the package.

my sis bro in law and i all use different word docs so it would have been nice to have one package that reads all on my pc for the emailed ones they cannot open
