redirect problem

I load up my home page and do a web search then when I click on the site I want I get redirected to other sites, such as ask.com, mylocalhero.com, clik-me.com compare.com theres lots of others. I have disabled all the add-ons, ran cc/cleaner spybot and it still does it does anyone know how I can get rid of it

Just tried to copy and paste WWW microsoft.com%2fsecurity essentials%2f from another thread called protection posted by barry and look what keeps happening

It does sound like you've been hijacked and that needs fixing.

 

Locate a file on your PC named hosts (no extension - just hosts). Open it in notepad (not a word processor but a text editor like notepad). Copy the contents and post them here.
