What to do with bought boilies?

Im going fishing tomorrow and am going to buy some boilies.

My question is.....

Once you have bought the boilies can you use them straight from the packet???

 

Im going to get the Dynamite baits fresh squid and octopus ones???

Do theese need prepariing, do any bought ones need preparing???

The vast majority of boilies can be fished straight from the bag. Just hair rig them and away you go.

I've recently started using these boilie spikes:

as I was spending far too much valuable fishing time fiddling around trying to insert boilie stops into hair-rig loops (and usually ending up dropping them into the long grass).

 

Apparently they split some boilies (not the Marine Halibut ones I was using), but partly drilling the boilie with a small nut drill first seems to alleviate this problem.

 

They work just as well with chunks of Pepperami!

Straight from the packet is fine, but if you want to be a bit adventurous you could try soaking them in some liquid attractor first.

Thanks for the help - much appreciated.

I bought the boilies and then decided to go to a different lake and fish the pellet wagler instead - it produced well...

So i have a few un opened boilie packs, how long do they keep - i couldnt see a BB date????

Also can you freeze them if they dont last very long????

If i opened a pack then wasnt going fishing for about 2 months what do i do?????
