  4. I've just spooled up with it and fished a few times......I'm quite happy with it so far and will write a short review when I get chance.
  5. Just the way it is sometimes, that's why it's called 'fishing' and not 'catching'! This time of year is a pain in the arse sometimes for carp. A water I fish has over 150 fish in 1 acre, you can see 'em, you could touch 'em, but you can't get 'em to take a bait! When it's like this, often the only way to catch is provoke a bite out of curiosity; a bright piece of foam, an unusual shape or something dripping in glug... If I'd been on your windy lake, I would have considered submerging the quivertip or switching to a small method feeder with a small hair rigged bait and waited for it to wrap around..... Did you learn anything from your day though? If you did, then it certainly wasn't wasted! Good luck next time...!
  6. A fair point.......my apologies, perhaps I could've worded it a little better.......
  7. Fellas, as I see it, many people visit forums for advice and information; I have noticed however as I'm sure that most of you have, that they also become an ideal place to 'bash' at other anglers.....This thread revolves around a 10 year old young lady who is enjoying her angling and MAY just have a few ideas of her own. I once took a 12 year old lad fishing and he battered me because he knew the water! Once HE gave me some advice, I did fairly well....We are not ALL experts. Whilst I appreciate that the idea of her being a 'consultant' may be a little far fetched for some to accept, there is obviously some merit in taking the young lady onboard to highlight the product range she is using to encourage other youngsters into our sport, which, to me, can only be a fantastic thing for the future? All kids follow their peers, wear the same make-up and outfits as Cheryl Cole etc and why? Because they see others doing the same....Ideal opportunity to open a few doors to new female anglers? Imagine how she would feel to read some of the comments already posted? Hardly a warm welcome or very encouraging? C'mon lads, she is 10 years old, give her a chance to shine, enjoy her fishing and maybe open your eyes a bit?? I've not read the full story, but I'm sure all anglers on here, once they have had a think about it, got through the 'consultant' bit, would wish her well and hope the young lady goes onto later success! I would hope to see more of the same! Good luck! (I'm not her old man, any relation or otherwise before you ask!)
  8. Hardly royalty.......just lucky. Freebies for who? You or me? Keep an eye out, I might run a competition for you to get your mitts on some free stuff, Pallatrax are now sponsoring my 'Carp-Talk NW' column too, so prizes on offer there for the best (not necessarily the biggest, I hate that!) catch report and picture. Why not check it out if you're in the area?
  9. Pallatrax do 'multiworm' boilies as part of their 'Naturals' range................
  10. Check out the Gardner website www.gardnertackle.co.uk for spare parts
  11. I use a tiny piece of the wide red elastic bands (adds a bit of colour!) or a maggot (real or artificial) and it seems to work for me.......
  12. Hi, I was given some to trial a few months ago and I've had a few fish now, I seem to be getting to grips with them and using them properly after trying to get my head round the baits. I'm still hearing extremely good things about them and hope to catch up with the rest of them when the weather improves again! The list of ingredients is intriguing, have a look at their website for a better rundown...
  13. Rod licence runs ALL year from 1st April to 31st March, THEN you need a new one.
  14. Unopened 'shelf life' should last months if not longer; freezer baits will go off after a week or so if not 'air dried' properly.
  15. Try crab and oyster from www.saebaitdevelopments.co.uk STUNNING!!
  16. I've just got hold of Rig Marole's "Hydrolink". It's a stiff fluorocarbon inner and supple braid outer which makes for an almost tangle free hook link with a whole range of options......review to follow shortly!
  17. I've currently got some on trial. The angling press seem to be giving it loads of coverage and initial reports seem to be favourable, but I'll let you know how I do with it......
  18. I agree, fresh bread much better for casting!
  19. Hi Mike, maybe this will help? I don't know if the link works, but if you look in carp fishing articles on the sidebar, I wrote a piece called 'What do I need to know about hook links'. Regards, Clint
  20. Not whinging my friend....just writing about a method I enjoy. I have caught (by design!) tench on boilies and bolt rigs, but I find it nice to revert to 'older' tactics now and then.......thanks for reading, I see it inspired comment! Kind regards, Clint
