help on tench

im going fishing tomorrow most likely to be fishing in the margins my choice of baits is expander pellets strawberry sweetcorn or bread wot do u think works best for margin fishing also could u give me some tips for tench im fishing on the pole.

I would say you won't go far wrong with what you have got to take with you.

 

I take it by expander pellets you mean something like CSL pellets only a different flavour. I usually throw in some Frenzied hemp aswel just to get an instant slick up in the water to attract fish into the swim. The expander pellets will give you flavour release over a greater period of time to hopefully attract more passing fish to your freebies.

 

Bread would be an exellent bait. As would just plain old sweetcorn. The flavoured stuff you mentioned would be good if the water is hard fished and the fish are used to seeing normal corn.

 

If it's nice and calm then presented with the lift method any of the baits would probably be a winner.

 

If possible a baiting-up routine should have been employed over the course of around three nights or early mornings to get the fish used to the free food being there and used to the bait you were likely to be using. The more freebies they have without a hook in the less shy they would be when presented with a hooked bait.

I once put 3 pints of casters in a canal I knew there to be good tench in, the following dawn, the canal was boiling like a couldron, they were going crazy! If it's very weedy use bread on legs.
