Try Pure Fishing UK, I think they handle all UK distribution for ABU products.

They may be able to help!

A mass of angry E-Mails to the Swedish address might wake them up! ABU service is, in my experience, dire to the extreme. And why so much of their lure fishing goodies are unobtainable in the UK is a mystery.

I have ben an ABU fan since the 1960's. Their ABU 505 reels, the Suveran reels, their Eon reels, their Zoom rods, their Terminator lures, their 1960's baitcasting rods and Speedlock handles, all groundbreaking stuff. Why they they let themselves down re service is a mystery and a crying shame.

As for going to the wall, there have been rumours and speculation. Apparently the Suveran Centre Drag reel had initial problems that cost the company dearly, as did early problems with the Eon. But those aside I would have thought a world class company would have coped with that.

Spares, I've been after two more spools for my Mitchell 300 pro. The first two spare spools were a doddle, two more appear to be an impossibility!

ABU, pull your socks up.

For what its worth, you can try this company which is not related to Abu or Mitchell in any way whatso ever.

There name is Reel care. They did spares for all Mitchell reels before they were taking over by Pure fishing. I dont know if they distribute them now, but its worth a shot as Abu are crap for after sales.

Reel Care

100, Kendal Avenue Millbrook

Southampton Hampshire SO16 9LY

When i worked in a tackle shop in Ipswich, this company was always able to get spares for Mitchell reels that my customers wanted me to order for them. But they do sell the to public aswell.

Pete Elleray:

Hi. The Reel Care shop in Southampton has closed and has been for about a year

Regards, Pete (My patio is spelt correctly.)

There's actually a letter in the Angling Times this week praising Reel Care in Southampton for repairing an old Mitchell. Perhaps they've just moved.

Thanks David. I actually logged on this evening to say that I had goofed. The shop that looked after my Mitchells has closed, it was in the same general area so I thought it was the same shop.

I guess it would be boring to be right all the time - but I would like to be right once.

Yours, Pete
