Wobbling deads?

Hi all.

Maybe a silly question here but what is meant by wobbling a deadbait. I am guessing it means moving the deadbait around on the bottom to give it the appearance of a wounded fish but I stand to be corrected. I have heard the term quite a lot recently but am unsure to what it is and how to go about it.

Could one of you knowledgable gents explain it to me please.

Thanks.

This discussion resulted in an AN fish-in, wobbling deads for pike.

Thanks Anderoo. That explained a lot. I may have to give that a go on the river stretch I fish. I have never seen a pike coming out from there but they have to here somewhere. Would a deadbait rod suffice or is a completely different type of rod needed?

Are you thinking of the stretch of river we talked about recently?

Hi I use the sink and draw method on my fox 9' 30-130 grams jerk bait rod and it does the job perfect, dead bait rods will work well, but I would use a jerk bait rod, also don't forget to use braided line, this will mean you can jerk and twitch the bait in small fast darts and this will look more realistic, hope that helps!

Tight lines.

Yes Rob. Very likely.

My friend (posts on here under the name Grazy) and I have been thinking of giving that stretch a bash for Pike, I've heard of them coming out to good sizes not much further downstream from there so I can't see any reason why there shouldn't be good fish in that stretch.

As far as wobbling rods are concerned I've always used a 10ft Spinning Rod that I believe has an equivalent test curve of 1.75lb so I see no reason why a Barbel rod of around the same test curve wouldn't be upto the job.
