Pike Fishing in Milton Keynes

Recommended Posts

I am newbie interested in Pike fishing and am looking for advice on where, when and how to catch them etc in Milton Keynes. I am not really interested in landing *monsters* as such, just something to help me into the sport.

Have you tried Milton Keynes AA at http://www.mkaa.co.uk ?

They recommend Willen North & South, Caldecote North & South & Bradwell Lake. You could drop them a line and ask about them, and also ask if they're aware of any specimen groups or specialists in the area who you could talk to.

Speak to the club and ask if there are any specimen groups or pike groups in the area, failing that go to your local tackle shop and ask, these people tend to know the best places around and what baits are working.

The advantage of going with an experienced Pike angler is that you will learn how to tie the necessary rigs, how to fish the baits and most importantly of all, how to handle the pike. Pike are actually quite a delicate fish and are easily killed if not handled properly, I've seen a lot of pike killed by a failure on the part of the angler and not through any intention to kill them, fishing with someone else is the best way to learn.

If you can't find anyone to take you make sure you do your homework on handling and unhooking Pike before you go!

You may also be better starting out by lure fishing as you are far less likely to encounter a deep hooked fish.

read the above and try to go with someone who's done it before, if you can't come back and start a thread saying where you're going, when and what experience you have, people should then be able to help you better.

Its easy to talk about helping someone new to any part of angling, But practical help and tuition will always be best,

It would be a lot better if an experianced local angler, could give up a little time to put people in the right direction actually on the bankside,

This goes for all parts of the sport,

It shouldn`t be looked on as being a sad man/women. looking for friends but that the welfare of the fish be of paramount importance.

Experiance past on is priceless.
