Thames species

Probably easier to say what isn't in it! Target species from the reports I've seen appear to be bream, chub & roach, but also barbel, perch, pike & some carp. Fairly standard river fare really.

Watch out for dead bodies. A year or so back there seemed to be a murder in Oxford most wednesday evenings, and a bungleing copper in a Red Jag kept knicking the wrong bloke whilst 2 or 3 more murders took place.

Most of the bodies seemed to end up in the river, and were pulled out by an innocent angler. I hope the EA were advised. Mind you, at an average of 180lb per body, they would beat my personal best.

You can certainly get Perch, Pike and chub in the stretch of river just next to the car park for port meadow........and a little further along on the Port meadow side where it joins the main rivers just below the trout and Godstow lock is good too.

You can also get some huge perch out of the Oxford canal just by wolvercote bridge
