trouble is uk grown bamboo rarely ripen correctly so not suitable for much besides sticks to prop up your plants for a year ,you could give someone though a good thrashing

i cleared about an acre of the stuff in an 18acre garden i resurrected the best it could do is make satisfying bangs when it was chucked on the fire

i suppose you could dig a hole ,put some sharpened bamboo stakes in that have been dunked in poo cover it with camo and settle back and wait for a burglar to enter your garden

Fashion a nice walking stick and brush up on your mockney, then you will be prepared for any chance meeting with Dick Van Dyke while walking in the park and be ready to join in with an impromtu version of "Old Bamboo" :D

That is so close to the truth, you wouldn't believe it!

This stuff is most definitely resilient. The walls are about 4mm thick at the base. I've been seasoning some from last year and it just got harder.

OK, I think I'm going for priests, bait blowstick/pea shooter, wading sticks and possibly a landing net handle. Maybe a throw stick? I used to use one of these for maggots when I were a nipper and couldn't afford a cattie.

I've got access to antlers, so that will make handles for wading sticks. I just need lead or brass for weight, and a stopper or spike at the bottom. I'm sure I can find those somewhere.

I'll also need a screw fitting for the net handles - where do I get these from?

Why not lash some together with a big brick attached and leave it in a suitable swim somewhere?

At the end of the year, go and collect your snag and all the attached tackle people have left behind.

Bargain eh.

I'm full of good ideas.
