Hi all.

Hopefully going too Cobbleacre this weekend, and wanted too catch a barbel from there, as never have before.

Asked Chay Jackson about them and he said

quote:

I put around 15 in 2 years ago at about 12oz- 1lb, not big but they will soon grow.
How big do you think they will be now?

Also, what would be the best way too catch them on a stillwater?

Cheers, Dan

Dan

When I've caught barbel in stillwaters I have been targetting carp

I suppose that they will take pellet, worm, corn etc... as they do in flowing water. one thing I have noticed is that, as in flowing, when you put a good bed of hemp down the barbel tend to feed more confidently.

sorry I can't be of more help matey, but it's better than nothing :D:D

Making the most of it

cant beat a big lob worm for a barbel in running water or still

i would think they would be 2lb+now if they have a good food source....

if he only put 15 in , whats the chances of you hooking one?

is it a big pond?

My understanding of the issue is that barbel rarely, if ever, breed in still waters Dan.

Poor little sods, being cooped up in just one acre! Catch 'em, and release them into a wild, naturel river where they are free to roam, and to breed !

Don't quote me on the size of the lake Peter, could be a lot bigger, it's been a while since I was last there.

Didn't know about the breeding thing, so probaly not very likely I'll hook into one.

Cheers for everyone's help :)

Dan
