Help - secret bait question

RUDD

Recommended Posts

There is a bloke at my local club who one several matches last year using a secret bait.

He had had enough of pellets, meat etc as they now get overused.

He will not tell anyone what the bait is but told me the following :

IT is sort of a particle.

It is a pig to present and take alot of practise.

He feeds it in groudbait.

It is sticky.

Does anyone have any ideas as he bags upon crucions, tench and bream using it.

It is not pellet, meat, maggot, caster, worm, bread, catmeat.

I think it is something like beans, wheat or jelly.

Does anyone have any ideas????????????

And do any of you use weird baits like jelly????????

I think it might be maples.

I am going to give a few DIFFERENT particles,

if anything I will be using a different bait to all the others.

Rudd,

Have you tried flavoured maggots yet? Sometimes, when maggots have been hammered, a bit of scopex can work wonders.

But I still reckon baked beans could be the answer. They seem to fit all the criteria described. Instantly attractive, difficult to get on the hook (hair rigs are great, but 1 bean on a 12 should be OK, as they are soft enough to strike through)) and they can be used in groundbait really well.

Maples would probably work well, but their inherrent texture could make them unattractive for smaller fish.

If you do decide to use maples, why not try "fermenting" them in their own juice for a couple of days after cooking? (Cooking and preparing as described in the NAA code). Add 4ozs of sugar (or 1/2 cup of liquid Molasses) to 1 pint (when dry) of beans after cooking, that should get them bubbling. Then use two days later.

If you've seen them, could the secret even be Tares?
