Drennan Website

looks like the guy with the hook tyer done it wrong

Please explain why?

From what I saw he does it the same way I do.

A website that is long overdue - I am a massive Drennan fan having been using various hooks, lines, feeders, floats, drenchwear and a super specialist rod for years. All quality kit that very rarely lets you down.

Strangely enough today I bought a super specialist net handle (used to good effect this afternoon for Tench and bream) to use for my stalking, lure, floater, quick session and mobile work - Its a very tough bit of kit and the twist lock to extend to 3m long will be very handy.

I got feed up with my three piece match type handles (ok when used from a box) and found my carp net to big to lump about with the handle being to short for some of the banks I fish from.

Different floats for different folks!

I dont know why they show it that way as the drennan hook tier instructions show it used the same way as Dave Harrel on the video clip.

I think they should change it as it contradicts the instructions IMO

Also if you check out the matchman hook tier the correct way is the same method the line should go down the hook not up.

Web site long over due look forward to more stuff on thier

Obviously not everyone is impressed with the new website - a poster on Another Forum has described it as "just about the worse effort I've seen".

Maybe he's a web designer who didn't win the contract? ;)

There are some technical issues with it - like many corporate websites it puts look and feel ahead of usability or compatility - it is pretty much broken on my iPhone. In that respect it looks like a typical car manufacturer website, including lots of use of Flash. These things are often sold to people in marketing who only really think about whether it looks good to them on their PC in the office.

Having said that, it works fine on my Windows PC, which will satisfy the requirements of the vast majority of people.

At the risk of being accused of being a troll, is there anything that is not broke on an iPhone? ;)

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

It's a bit like democracy, Cory - it's crap, but I've yet to find an alternative I'd rather have ;)

Actually, thinking of upgrading to an iPhone 4 - simply can't be bothered with the hassle of learning a new device, finding workarounds for my music collection and finding and paying for alternatives to the apps I've bought, plus the risk of then spending my life feeling I need to justify my choice of phone to everyone!

Apple does not support flash, sadly a massive web standard. now if drennan chose HTML5 on the other hand, it would look great on your iphone.

Anyway back on topic..cool website. drennan make alot of good gear.

I think the writing in the middle of the screenis a bit pot, I can hardly read it.

I could not find any of their controller floats in the floats section.

Apple does not support flash, sadly a massive resource hog and a proprietary technology web standard.

;)

You can do some cool things with Flash, and it has its place, but I do find the routine use of it for things which could be done without it a little annoying.

Actually, having had another look at it on my PC, the fancy stuff isn't using Flash, it just looks like it. The most annoying feature is that the menus don't work on the iPhone - and they are straightforward HTML/CSS. They do work in Firefox, but look a bit crap.

Still, it's a hell of a lot better than nothing!
