conger and ling fishing

Am i going to have to get some beefier gear ?

I have:

Abu Suveran Evo Boat 8'2" 20 LB

Abu Suveran Evo Uptider 9'9" 5 - 10 OZ

Daiwa Sealane s 20/30 lb 7'6"

Being a tart, to have a matching set, i just had a look at the Suveran boat 7'6" 50 lb....it's £225.-- :headhurt:

The Uptider is very powerfull, would it handle a Conger ?

I would not get much use out of 50 lb rated rod, down here.

(Wish i had'nt sold the 7500 CT C3 now)

I can tell you that the Suveran uptider (although a great rod) hasn't the backbone for big conger! Couldn't get this bugger up, we estimated it as a 60lb + fish :schmoll:

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

How long to go now

Subtle bump

Huh, there's suggestions being mooted Brian that we might just run into one of them horrible flat fish thingies, them with the big teeth, halibut. If we hook one, will it be classed as no good and send it back as thats not our target specis? :D

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Just been lent an Abu 7000 C4 LD.

Seems pretty heavy and robust, would this be ok on the Conger rod.

The Avet will be on the Halibut rod. B)

Ha ha, err in a short word no. Seen tears in guys eyes, when say hooked into a medium blonde ray in the tide, when the spools decides to bend a little under the pressure.

Or use it Sean, then send it back with a bent spool.

the rod i'm going to use will be multi tasking, not going to tell ya all how little i paid for it. the reel, don't even go there. :P

Struggling with heavy weights, me mate has let me down making them so any ideas chaps?

What do you call heavy Barry?

I've got a few between 1lb and 1 1/2lb and, if I get a chance (and some more lead) I can knock some more up, no promises mind I'm flat out at work at the moment.

The bell mould holds upto 2.25lb i would like to see a few of those made and possibly 2lb ders. If there is a decent bit of tide that's when the biggies come out to play. I got a good bit of lead as well, but like you i have no kin time at the mo.

Bob's suggesting that his mates nine seater picks you up Worms, would that be a plan? And me and Sean can go up in another vehicle.

I spoke to Bob t'other day Barry. Problem is I'm 100 miles away from Oxford. I may also have to do a job in Lancashire on the Friday. In which case I might as well just across to Whitby from there.

When is the B+B set up for? when is everybody else meeting up?

If Bob goes north up the M5, picks me up at Worcester and then hangs a right onto the M40 to Oxford that could be a plan?
