They do others too. Here's another one.

Something similar to this was well publicised and reccomended by a very well known carp angler many years ago and was advertised as the 'Octopus rig' and consisted of multiple hooks/hairs. "Apparently" it was a quick way of ascertaining the preferred bait on the day as each hook was baited with a different boilie/bait etc.

looks like a good way of blinding every fish you hook to me. Scarey thing is that someone is probably buying and using these rigs

What the f***?

That is extremely unusual, and looks more like some 80 year old maggot feeder. Why the need for so many hooks i do not know but it looks quite cruel. I once read an article about a bloke who fished very large lochs and places, he would fish a maggot feeder with two baited hooks, one at the end of his mainline and one nearer to the feeder, i thought that was odd, this is a whole different kettle of fish!

I'd be interested to know where you can use this, what you'd use it for and how you'd use it though :g: :g:

One things for sure, you will never see one of these anywhere near my tackle box!!!

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

I was under the impression that it is illegal to fish a multiple hook rig. And as for a well known angler recommending it, he strikes me as some what of a tit. I dont think i would be to pleased if i caught someone using it on any lake i owned.

It seems like a case of new anglers starting carp fishing without doing the rounds and learning the craft properly. No real angler would even consider something like that

This topic (and product) has ben raised before on forums (though I'm unsure about whether or not it was on here?) Look at the origin of these 'rigs' ... in common usage in that part of the world as a FOOD GATHERING device ... has bugger-all to do with angling as a sport (and no need for snidey comments about 'Eastern Europeans' ... they already 'apparently' catch far more fish with very simple or crude tackle, than the experienced angler does with endless refinement and a bottomless bank account! ;) )

On the subject of multi-hook rigs, I raised the topic of legality (or otherwise) elsewhere ... anyone remember double and triple-hooked rigs, commonly used with big lobworms. I think the doubles were 'Pennel' rigs ... yes, for freshwater angling! ... can't recall the name of the triple hook jobbies, but no doubt someone will be along shortly who can?

From the advert, these cages are designed for silver carp and bighead carp, neither of which is found in the UK and neither of which are ever likely to be caught on rigs designed for Cyprinus carpio. As has been said here, they are designed to catch when the aim is food rather than sport.

Designed for fishing for food fish or to remove nuisance fish, so sporting ethics and fish welfare are not likely to be much of an issue.
