You guys cant have used many bait casters then! IMO the Six Shooter is the worse reel Ive ever used! I was given one to try whilst I was in France and I found a great use for it.....propping up the fridge in my caravan awning to keep it level ! Enough to put anyone of a multiplier for life!

But that was some years ago and maybe I'm being unfair and the newer models are better? Once bitten twice shy though.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

i only use it every now and again and it did the job that i wanted it for. never used another so could not compare but i was able to cast light spinners and big plugs with no problems.

i know an american guy staying over here and they know there baitcasters, and for the money he rated it highlly only flaw was right handed.and it wasnt because it was mine he had a quantum he could have used, thats another i rate highlly but they .it also cost more, well that model did.i prefare the more flatter models, they feel better with a trigger style rod.if pssible feel the reel on the rod, because casting all day ,it can start to feel sore, very sore, andthe model i think your talking about,is a round reel and silver.well thats not what i meant

No it was a low profile model. The later ones are round.I don't rate Quantum either! Cheap and badly made.

With the Masterline reel though I may be getting confused and it was the "Toothy Critter" model? Crap regardless. I service/repair/sell multipliers and although I specialise in ABU's I do get a very wide range of different quality and make reels in. Very wide range of quality and usability.

In general it seems that for a multiplier/bait caster for throwing lighter lures you do need to buy quality. That said several of the US Outfitters do really good quality "cheap" models but this is simply as they are made by top companies and are just re badged with the "Bass Pro","Cabala's" etc label.

On the subject of low profile reels I must admit that I'm quite a recent convert.I allways preferred the round profile but a few years ago I had a low profile, trigger release model come as part of an "out fit" I brought whilst in the US.As I was fishing "US style" at the time I gave it a go and quite liked it. Used it quite a lot back here for light to medium pike work despite it being the cheapest reel I own.
