Painting quivertips

I paint and make many of my own tips and always carry a reel of plumbers ptfe tape with me and a roll of black electrical tape which I can use over the plumbers ptfe if I need to switch to black.

In your case I would say for less than a £1.00 give the ptfe tape a go first. Second I would look at some of the various make tips available, if its a fixed tip then try the ptfe tape first. not happy go with the paint job.

Ptfe tape will not change the sensitivity of the tip, unless you go crazy with the amount you use and even then you would have a job.

I too have all my tips done (even the finest on my 10' quiver, which is pretty feeble) with PTFE strips, after Budgie's advice was implemented and it's the shiznit Andy.

You only need about 2" of tape to make a strip and if you rotate the tip with the stripe between a finger and thumb, the tape melds together. It's thin, waterproof, neat and most of all, flexible.

I made a pretty tidy job of mine too. It's really very good mate. I haven't noticed any effect on performance, other than visually and that is the point.

PTFE Andy. It's the way ahead.

Thanks for all the replies. However my inner tackle tart won't accept that wrapping tape (no matter how thin it is) over the tips of my new pride and joy is a solution, never mind the best solution! I'd rather leave them as they are and miss a few bites

Andrew, how about making some sights for the tips and plugging these into the beta light clips? Could paint a few drennan float tips?

Or even buy some:

Androo,

How did I know that? !! If you have a chance take a look at my second suggestion. Touch up quantities are perhaps half an oz. Maybe the same stuff is available in the hobby industry.

You won't know unless you try. I think some pretty good anglers have suggested the PTFE tape here and you're missing a trick by dismissing the idea.
