Torn One Piece Suit

Recommended Posts

I had a really enjoyable few hours fishing today on the river including a new P.B. Grayling of 2lbs 12ozs. However, the down side is that I tore my Sundridge one piece trying to duck under some barbed wire. Anyone know of a good way of fixing it? Neoprene patch perhaps?

Also, has anyone ever tried actually washing the things? I foolishly went on a roving session a couple of weeks ago whilst quite ill. This resulted in some profuse sweating and my suit now really pen and inks. The labels only give instructions for exterior cleaning but, once I've got it waterproof, I'd like to give it a good wash. Thanks.

Paul

whats it made out of? most of the waterproof suits and trousers etc can be hand washed using a natural soap (ie not persil or daz or anything like that) and the waterproofing should remain intact. as for the repair, depends what its made out of.

I have a fad called cleanliness! Seeing some match anglers on the bank, their clothing caked in ancient green and grey groundbait leaves me cold, urgghhh!

I think I would enquire off Sundridge on both counts. I know Gortex hates washing machines.

Since I also sea fish I do machine wash my Sundridge Speciman Suit, no probs so far. But I'd hate to recommend that you try it incase it all goes belly up!

Always pays to wear washable undercloths. Mind you, if you were THAT ill, whoops!

One of my mates a few years back had a chinese that didn't agree with him. He jumped up the bank and ran down the other side (on a reservoir)but didn't make it tothe bushes. Although he only lived a mile away he had s**t from his neck to his ankles by the time he got home. Apparently the suit along with everything under it went straight in the bin. :o )

Not too sure what it's made from Jeepster it's the 'Heavyweight' but is a good few years old now. I also have a two piece (luckily) which is apparently made from 'Silcatex' whatever that is. I think I'll go with Peters idea of contacting Sundridge. Cheers fellas.

i wouldnt try neoprene as any neoprene i've come across isnt waterproof, its just an insulator, best bet is as peter says, contact sundridge, if anyone will know its them.

Paul, the Heavyweight that I have has got a label in it saying "hand wash" only.

I think this is to stop a washing machine messing up the lining.....I wear mine four or five days a week at the moment and it soon gets very smelly so I put it in the WM on a "hand wash" programme and it is fine.

This one is right up my street!!!!!!!!

Two weeks ago I ripped my heavyweight braces.

I repaired them by double stitching (tie a big loop with needle on loop) with 6lb mono!!!!!!!!!!!

The rip was in the groin area and fairly clean.

It occured while helping a bloke unhook a deep hooked pike.

They are good as new.
