Now that were into the new year, what targets are you all setting yourself, if any?

 

Personally I want a double figure barbel, 5 or preferably 6lb+ chub and a 3lb+ perch from the Kennet/K&A canal before the end of the season.

 

The close season's main aim is going to be a double figure tench. Though I may put in one last ditch for the upper 40 mirror I've been after for a few seasons before the rivers re-open. Then I just want to enjoy the rest of my year and diversify my angling a little, spending one day trotting for silvers and the next sitting it out for something a bit bigger.

 

Nothing like setting your sights high :P.

I have rather modest targets for the year, like you I would love a double figure Tench but relistically I think this is rather doubtful and would be very surprised if it happened, so I would like one but will not be trying to hard to get one and will be targeting other species.

 

I would like a double figure Bream and should have access to 2 still waters that has them but they will not be throwing themselves on the bank at either water and so this will be more a hope then some thing that is likely to happen. I also fish a river that has a chance of a low double.

 

However my more realistic and achievable targets will simply to catch some Catfish and a Grass Carp, not to fussed about size. Plus a river Lea Zander would be nice and again size not to important.

A Zander, any size, by any means necessary :D. A 15lb Pike, a 6lb Bass and a 2lb Perch, all on lures.

This Years' Targets:- As many species by lure as possible. Preferably via Kayak. 15lb+ Pike on Lure...

Species Caught 2012- Pike, Perch.

Kayak Launches- Fresh-8 Salt- 0

Kayak Captures- 14 Pike, 1 Perch.

In that case may I recomend a visit to the Fens with a seine net, I believe certain members of the population find it a very productive method ;)

I think in seasons rather than years, so all I really want to do until the end of this season is work on the roach fishing and hopefully get better at that, and drop it for the chub if conditions switch, and try to find a chub on the new stretch.

 

Next season I don't really have any plans yet...I have a few little ideas but nothing yet that really grabs me. What this year has taught me is that you can have the best plans in the world, but you can't control the weather!

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Mine is to take my youngest daughter on her first over night trip.Its going to be more about the camping than the fishing really (even though she is keen to fish). She loves Wingham as well (likes nosing in peoples bivvy's and sketching the nature) so when suitable going to take her a bit more.

 

Fishing wise its the same as last year (but hopefully a lot more successful!) and that's simply to be able to spend more time on the bank without making myself ill.

 

I have with the aid of the Burkester and my old mate Glyn made some cunning plans as how to achieve this this coming season!

 

That's the main "target" but fish wise if I can get out more I'm looking at the chance of my first ever double figure tench and another 5lb+ eel.Main intention is to actually try and do a few different things that I have just "never got round to" such as some new eel tactics and trying circle hooks for them.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
