Sticklebacks take chunks out of fish don't they, or is that newts I'm thinking abou. I am sure they will eat the tadpoles though.

We'e had a weather loach in the pond for about 20 years. It orig came from a coldwater tank we "stocked" the pond with. It was surprising how long the black moors lived. Probably about 2-3 years.

We've been feeding once a day for several weeks now. It's only on the very coldest days that they don't take much.

Listen to Ed Ziggy! he's not joking about the breeding capabilities of Sticklebacks.

My son put a few of the spiny wonders along with some Minnows we'd netted in the pond (incidentally Minnows make great pond fish). One summer later the pond was stiff with them, & without draining the pond completely, they were almost impossible to remove!

They are no threat to adult fish, but if your fish spawn & you like to bring the fry on then you need to be careful, they are very defensive parents & very territorial.

Peter.

The loose lines gone..STRIKE.
