Hang on, hang on.

It is not April 1st until the day after tomorrow.

What gives it away is the statement about "dismantling dams"

European Beavers (unlike their American cousins) very rarely build large dams

Vagabond,

Hope so as the trust will have a beaver watch campaign set up next, like to know who the anglers are who are mortified by this news, ho ho ho, 1st april comes early.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

The Angling Trust has today written to Fisheries and Natural Environment Minister Richard Benyon urging him to authorise the trapping and lethal control of beavers to halt their spread into England from Scotland following the failure of the Scottish government to contain populations within a number of trial release sites.

its all part of a counter strike to Budgie's Scottish invasion using ruffe to smuggle armed men in to Scotland.

According to Wikipedia, the last native beaver sighting in England was in 1526. So I guess it's non native. But there again, it's more native than grey squirrels, mink, or himalayan balsam.

The EA operate a 150 year rule for making these distinctions, ie, no records of a species within a specific habitat within the last 150 years = non native. But it's a subjective line, and an interesting discussion point. It's also pretty arbitrary in that the base point shifts with every passing year. As far as I can see, the 150 year rule has no legislative basis, it's just a definition that was invented by the EA to assist them in the discharge of their constitutional duties.

Surely a more practical approach would be to say that if we introduce beavers into the environment and they thrive, then they're probably supposed to be there. And if we introduce barbel into the environment and they're populations consistently dwindle, then they're probably not supposed to be there.

The American Indians would like to use the same rule for purposes of eradication. Fortunately we don't have it.

I don't understand. What don't you have, the 150 year rule?

And what would the American Indians like to eradicate?

Sorry, but you've confused me.

Any advice to how and why they become extinct, was the beaver on a short list for destruction by humans by any chance. B) If so the trust and the e a could do good by considering replenishment or is the beaver considered not fit for re-introduction because of modern ideals, like carp fishing, or obstructing rightfull passage of the freshwater eel by creating beaver habitat dams? not quite 1st april, yet.
