Mally:

Hi colin, what are meddle and ummagumma like? these are two that i have yet to add to my floyd collection, ive heard that meddle is supposed to be excellent!

Meddle is excellent!!

Ummagumma, the live bit, is good as well, especially "Careful with the Axe Eugene" & "Astronomi Domini".

"Careful with the axe" was in a road movie some years back, Nebraski Point I think [surprised I can remember my name sometimes??]

Good grief, reading these lists makes me feel really young!

I'm old enough to know that Meddle is fairly lightweight, and Ummagumma is a double album: the first album being a live recording at Mother's in Birmingham, and is quite excellent. The studio album contains one bona fide classic in The Narrow Way, but some of it is self-indulgent wibble.

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.

I haven't had time to think of ten yet but I am surprised not to have seen Rumours by Fleetwood Mac anywhere.

Colin you missed out Atom Heart Mother, don't you like that one?

Not a lot I'm afraid.

Trouble with this thread is that I could probably find another ten lots of ten as well as the first lot.

I must admit that although I'm getting to be an old git, I quite like a lot of todays music and I am sure in years to come some of these will be classics.

I remember my parents telling me to turn off that awful row, some bloke who will never last long, Elvis Presley. They said the same about the Beatles, Pink Floyd etc. One thing I have always tried not to do is criticise my kids music and infact my kids even like quite a bit of mine. Even though they were subjected to it for years.

Colin,

I have to agree with you on that one, AHM, cant really get into it, I liked the name of the album so I bought it. Its the big band bit all the brass instruments and that, just not my thing. I am pleased to hear you saying that about your kids music colin, a lot of it will be trash but they will soon get bored of the stuff thats no good.

12. For Everyman - Jackson Browne

13. Led Zepplin II - Led Zepplin

14. Into The Fire - Bryan Adams
