  5. 6 of us braved the elements on sunday, boy was it windy, leaves & twigs flying about all over the place. we were supposed to fish the Hob Hole but we all forgot to pack our surfing gear so we went round the corner to the Sibsey Trader the wind was going over the top a bit there so it was a bit more fishable. Still only caught 7 tiddlers between us, i caught 4 of em and won the match, poor old Bob who had the 'golden peg'lost a big tench at the net,LOL, that cost him £111.50 as you can imagine the rest of us offered our deepest sympathies

  12. Hi John I was in fuerta in january, we stayed in Caletta De Fuste i fished at the harbour mouth off the rocks. i caught Mullet on floating crust and Wrasse & some kind of Puffer fish close in to the rocks on bits of Octopus, I had to make a float out of my discorger & a couple of little plastic bags so make sure you take a couple with you, it was good fun in the sun   At the time we were there the boat fishing was crap, no one was catching, make sure you ask around before spending any money. Alan
  13. Yes, according to netmorefish its £2.50 and i know the fella that runs the site so i think it will be gen. thanks for the compliments. Alan
  14. Hi Mall yes mate i certainly did give it a go, and i had a really good day. i started by having a look up the river from the CO-OP in Horncastle, it was quite a walk before i found any fish, i was begining to think there were no fish at all, but then under an overhanging tree i found three large Bream and just a bit further a shoal of small Chub, then a couple of bigger Chub went scooting up river. by this time i was wishing i'd fetched some gear with me but unfortunately i hand'nt planned to go stalking so i gave that stretch a miss for now So i drove to Conningsby, i've been meaning to give it a go there for ages, my dad used to take me there when i was a kid, i posted asking if anyone new who controlled that stretch but got no replys. anyway the water level was a lot lower than i remembered but i saw lots of small fish,so out comes the gear & off i went. I walked down to where a small side stream comes in by a fence, there were some overhanging trees & i could see some bigger fish. I set up a link ledger on my feeder & a stick. For bait i had bread, luncheon meat, worms, maggots & casters. I riddled some of the meat, soaked two slices of bread & mixed them together & threw it in close to the trees & left that for a bit. i set to work on the stick, i caught a small chub first chuck,i kept that up for about an hour then changed to the ledger with a small chunk of l/meat, i missed two or three bites then hooked in to a chub of just over a 1lb. I had six or seven more & two Swans moved up the river and hoovered up all my bait, i was fuming i had to pull my ledger out & just watch them scoff the lot 'GREEDY B******S' . As they moved off i picked up my stick float & followed them down with it, double caster on a 16 hook, my float had just about caught them up when it went under and nearly pulled my arm out it was a fantastic chub i played it for at least 10 mins & it only just fit in my landing net, 5lbs 4oz my personal best I carried on for another hour catching a few more fish but nothing could better that one so i went home with mixed feelings 1 ellation 2 regrets at not having a bloody camara Strangely enough when i switched on my computer the day after that Tyke hed sent me a link to a site that told me about whon owns the fishing rights to that stretch & it appears that i was ok fishing there as i hold a Witham joint book. i was really pleased about this as i would've hated to be poaching  (thanks Mall) blimey that was a bit longer than i expected, not too long i hope  Regards Alan
  15. Hi rl i've got to agree with the other guys but am surprised nobody mentioned Wasp Grub. last friday i fished the Bain near conningsby in lincs i caught chub up to a pound n half on anything i put in front of them but i did catch my PB 5lb 4oz chub on double caster

  17. Hi Rykko personaly think you only need what your gonna use. i've got 1 13'waggler rod,1 12'waggler for tenching,1 feeder rod,1 quiver tip,1 14mtr pole,1 7mtr whip & 1 2lb tc carp rod. these are more than enough for my needs & anyway what with bank sticks,brolly&2 different length landing net poles my holdall is heavy enough
  18. Hi Mally The match was ok no big fish caught. I think i sat on the feeder too long, it was'nt really producing enough bites & the guys who changed over to the waggler earlier caught more of the small stuff. the match was won with 7lbs of bits i came nowhere with 2lbs 7oz Still it seems a good stretch worth another go sometime I'm going out again sometime this week i think i might have a look at the Bain. regards Alan
  19. Thanks for the replys guys. Found the rods listed in the W.M.A.C. brochure not as exspensive as i thought but still a good rod though, i had 4 good sized Bream & 2 monster Eels on it last night it handled them with ease Still don't know who Ron is tho'
  20. Hi Mally I've just read your diary & was wondering what part of the Bain you were fishing, i used to fish the river a lot but i hav'nt been lately. Also as you fish the Trent a lot i was wondering if you knew anything about the power station stretch around East Stoke as we've got a match there on sunday. regards Alan. P.S. the diary is excellent.

  23. Hi guys I've just bought a Ron Thompson Specimen MPX feeder 13'JM6. It seems like a very good rod it has 2 tips medim/heavy. can anyone tell me anything about Ron or the rod, i bought it second hand for £45 but i think it should be worth more than that. hope you can help, regards Alan
  24. I hate "LITTER LOUTS" it's the only thing that really makes me mad. As i was growing up, fishing with my dad he always taught me to check my peg before i left for any litter, i still do this now and let me tell you i have always come home with more rubbish than ive taken myself. It's different rubbish at different venues, Ponds it's mostly meat tins rivers it's mostly Groundbait bags. Even at 'exclusive' club/syndicate waters. It's the law of averages that some of you reading this do it,a bit of line here or a crisp bag there, 'somebody else will pick it up', well yes i expect i will but i'm getting bloody sick of it TAKE YOUR LITTER HOME
