Can Prison Work?

It depends on what it is used for.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Prison works to stop a person doing what he did (although with rights to communicate to the outside world its still done on their behalf)to get into prison all the time he is in prison ,the longer he is in the longer he stops doing it ,yes prison works in most cases of real crime

IE if some scrote was burglering old ladies all the time he in prison hes not burglering old ladies, the longer he is in the longer hes not doing it

I once got 28days for contempt of court i never contempted court when i was in but i hold court with contempt to this day ,no problem doing it again so i was stopped but not cured something prison cannot do in the main .

Prison is to punish not reward by curing

Not all countries use prison for the same purpose. Even the Scottish and English governments don't use prison the same way.

Punishment or rehabilitation?

I don't know, but how do you rehabilitate and elderly woman imprisoned for not paying her council tax?

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional :-)

It's an interesting little video, but there is a wee bit more to it than the punishment/rehabilitation thing.

The elderly woman should not be in prison in the first place.
