Aston church protests at Easter Premier League game.

 

A protest is being held by churchgoers in Birmingham over the decision to play a football match on Easter Sunday.

Worshippers at Aston Parish church are staging the demonstration outside nearby Villa Park before Aston Villa's match with Liverpool.

The vicar, the Reverend Andy Jolley, said that Easter Sunday "should remain a special day for families."

I think it is a strange thing for a C of E vicar to say. I could understand it if he was a Wee Free minister from the Hebrides. (These folks won't use public transport or drive to church on a Sunday).

No me neither, but unlike you and I they go at least 3 or four times a week. Wee Frees won't even cook on a Sunday.

There is a worse place in Scotland. It's called Gardenstown. Weapons, alcohol and, wait for it, "tools" are forbidden.
