Help with pc pleeeeeeeze

Ihave a problem that is realy beginning to bug me now.

The other day i ran a fix it uttilities application through my computer the actual test i ran was called all in one ,it ssuppose to free up space make things run quicker get rid of unwanted files etc.

since doing this i have had problems with certain programmes not running properly and the ones that do have slowed down a bit ,but the one thing that is bugging me is the recycle bin,i click it and about 4-5 mins later it comes up with nothing in it ,even though i have put about 10 items in it .

then from nowhere i get the recycle bin up on the screen saying ther are 28,674 items in the bin ,

 

i have restored my system back to earlier dates but it still does the same thing ,even the scan disk wont work properly .

 

can anyone advise please ,i would be eternally in love with you if you could .

Hey, it sounds like you have to create a boot disk, delete the program using DOS and reboot your PC using the boot disk. If you ring up a Dell or Comet etc hotline they will actually talk you through it. Alright mate?

run the utility and see if there is an undo feature (remembering that some of the things put in the recycle bin could have fell out of the bottom )failing that you could always open the recycle bin ,select everything and hit restore ,if that fails (and i know from the past using such type software ) its reinstall the offending software but wait for another oppinion first.

WAIT you may have to re restore your p.c to the date of the disaster ,wait and check with newt

Dunno whether its a coincidence but my pc probs that ended up with me reformating the hard drive started after I bought a clean up utility called "ashampoo" I now use the cd as a beer mat bit expensive at a £10er but blooming safer!

RESTORE in safemode then ditch the utillity or use for coaster .

fasser - if you are fixed, then good on ya.

 

If not, say what brand of PC, and what operating system.

 

Some of those "automatically fix it" utilities can certainly screw a system up royally. Usually can be dealt with but sometimes not.

 

Anyway - with the information (which you may have given somewhere before but I am way too lazy to look) I can offer some ideas that may help and certainly won't hurt.
