PC help bios missing ???

Hiya,

 

I've just picked up an old pentiumII box for the wee fellas room, the problem is.. it wont start as if there is a problem with the bios, like there isn't one, the HD powers up but wont start the fans all come on and everything seems to be working ok. So can and how do I repair or replace the bios or has anyonme out there got an old motherboard they dont need ???

I think when mine did that, it woz coz the cpu was knack'd. Maybe try taking the cou out & see if it makes any difference. Could also be loose memory. Try and wiggle stuff (with the comp off) and see if that helps.

Nope no joy.. cpu working OK as is the memory.. tested in this PC.... next

if you cant get to the floppy then you cant flash the bios :( BUT some modern bio`s have a recovery feature,check with the manufacturer`s website :) )

Have you reset the CMOS, normally moving a jumper or remove the battery?

 

Is the motherboard set up for that processor, ie jumper settings etc, check on the motherboard manufacturers web site, it might not be set to autodetect the cpu.
