printer question

Recommended Posts

I have a Lexmark Z25 printer, for the last couple of weeks it seems that the ink has been running out as it is printing in a faded red/pink colour with poor definition. The thing is though that the on screen display shows that the cartridge is 5/8ths full. I'm pretty new to computing and as of yet not needed to renew the cartridge.

Hiya Mate,

have you tried cleaning the printer heads first?. Thats the first thing that I can think of mate.

Hi Aanth, firstly go into "my computer" there you will find "printer" click on that and you will find the options that you want, ie clean print head, make sure you have some paper loaded into the machine. When its finished, there should be an option, "print test page" or something like that, if it still looks the same, do the whole thing again, if its still the same, new cartridge wanted and Im afraid Lexmark are expensive, some models, its almost cheaper to buy a new printer.

Anyway good luck hope you manage....hoppy

check also it hasent been set in "economy "mode ,it is not unusual for 1 colour to run out if it was heavily used in the past ,best bet is a refil kit check first though your printer is listed as many modern printers have coded carts and the printer "knows" if it has been refilled

Thanks Chesters and mdg, nothing at all is being printed now. The printer goes through the motions but the paper comes out as clean as a whistle?

Think i'll buy a new cartridge to see how it goes.

Thanks again all

Ant - a good idea when you get the new ink thingys to routinely print a black & white page and a color page every day or so jus to keep the thing clean and ready to print.

Thanks for the tip Newt.

Just out of interest, how many pages are these cartridges likely to print? Also seen this evening in ASDA a refill kit which retailed for just £8.99 (black), are these a good idea as the genuine Lexmark cartridges are around £28.
