Sound and the bite

Once had lunch at a lakeside restaurant at Lake Travis, Texas.

Open air, on jetty over several feet of water.

Americans order/are brought whether-they-like-it-or-not too many "French fries" and the surplus gets chucked over the side into the lake. Lots of people doing just that the day we were there.

Fries, or any other food hitting the water produced the type of reaction usually associated with feeding time at a fish farm. Lots of huge carp and blue catfish of the order of thirty pounds plus jostling each other and butting ducks out of the way.

In case anyone is making plans, no fishing is allowed from the jetty............

There's a stretch on the Swale, where the local kids gather on a weekend after being kicked out of the pub. They call in the local chippy, and plenty is thrown in the river. Chips, (fries to Newt and Phone), are a great bait for barbel and chub, all along that stretch.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John
