ahh, I have a matching pair, identical, however, one is 12-18 the other 20-30, both exactly the same length, diameter, weight. How do I tell one from the other without looking at the writing?

 

No rod bending allowed. :)

Barry, turn them into proper rods with some sandpaper and paint and give them descending hard names like Avenger Titan Microlite. Or Bill and Ben might be better for yours. :-)

Identical rods would fish identically. But - let's assume for the moment you're not very smart - put the green reel on one and the blue reel on the other one.

(I've never picked up a rod I didn't wobble at least once. Even rods I've used hundreds of times.)

looking at them side by side from butt to tip they are exactly the same, I can't tell you what one is what. Yet the lighter power one is through action, can't handle any weights heavier than ten ounces, the heavy one is tippy, with tons of power down below and can pull up conger eel. Totally different action rods. They are braid rods, not a lot of dosh, but worth every penny I paid for them. :thumbs:
