Right, your PC meets the minimum specifications for the scanner. What concerns me is why you have only 45% of System Resources free (this is nothing to do with the 64Mb of physical memory installed), so I need to know what applications you have running at start-up using those resources. I'll post a link for a program to do that in a while.

 

Also, do you have any other USB devices attached to the machine?

Also very odd that your one memory 'slice' is in slot 1 not slot 0?

I bet someone you know has an old 64MB memory (Sdram??) slice that they don't need - ask 'puter' types at work, someones bound to have one lying about (ther'e worth about a pint!).

They might even chuck it in for another one!

This would help speed up your system as well - I expect that you are having probs installing because the system resources go to nil when it's trying to load the software.

Does the HP software not show an error message when it fails?
