maybe (and i havent programed anything since 1984) if you "directed" the icon to the "connect" dooda it would work ,theres a direction dooda in the icons properties ,the "target" bit

Try this @SUMMER@ ....When you are connected, like you are now reading this post, go to the top of this page and click on.....

TOOLS...then in the drop down menu, click on.....

INTERNET OPTIONS...then click on

CONNECTIONS...you will see 3 small circles and options on the left side, like this

O never dial a connection

O dial whenever a network connection is not present

O always dial my default connection (this is the one you should select)

Then click on... APPLY

that should be it thats what I do and works for me,by the way, Im using MS XP system

cheers hoppy

May be being dim here,

but isn't ADSL an 'always on' broadband connection.

You shouldn't have to dial in at all:

If your browser and mail progs are set right opening them should give you instant contact?

@SUMMER@:

Ive always had to click on the icon then tell it to connect.

Well I suppose you could always check with your ISP and see what they say -

I have a 510 Speedtouch Router that I've never switched off, with three machines hooked up to it I suppose we have a mini network and as I said the access is always there - just have to open the browser...

Doesn`t always work like that, if the auto-installer from the ISP didn`t set it up correctly, or if you manually set it up, then it will do that

That's true - so it would be worth checking with the ISP then?
