KelvinDaviesII, as Yakity says we all use whatever comes to hand. Prowler uses a pole vaulters pole by the look of it - some gurt great thing anyway. Others use lure casting/spinning rods for spinning and plugging around structures and over reefs, for bottom fishing a 12lb class rod and small multiplier is ideal. On the yak you can use lighter gear than from a boat because you can't put the pressure on if you had heavier gear anyway - the yak gives instead of the pressure being transmitted, so just use a light uptider or something - truth is, it doesn't matter - it is the other end that catches the fish! I fly fish from the kayak too. Anything goes. Take what suits the type of fishing you are going to do that day.

Hope that helps a bit.

i dont know about teaching prowler how to fish but i did give him first hand experience in how to spin for marker bouy's when we went out the other night. although we did get a catch in and yes it was mackeral again for prowler and myself but my duck is now broken for the year and things can only look up-ish.

anyone know what's next up after a marker bouy?
