Yup done Davy, but cant get it off the machine ;)

oooookay, you could type it out on the other machine, as that might give us a clue? Have you removed the Nintendo usb WI-FI dongle and unistalled any dust you put on the system? Just to get your network back to how it was in its original state?

Hmmmm - the config problems I was expecting to see aren't there and all the numbers look exactly as they should so the problem is elsewhere.

Do you have any files/folders/printers shared over your home network between the PCs? I'd be interested to see if they are still working or if they went away at the same time internet did. If you are running a firewall, it could possibly have changed a setting while you were installing the USB piece and be blocking access to your host PC from the slave PC.

It's maybe not particularly helpful to you at this point but FWIW, networking is the one place I will not mess with USB at all, ever. It often works fine but when it does not, trying to troubleshoot can be difficult and is often impossible. I stay strictly with ethernet for networking.

How difficult/expensive would it be for you at this point to replace all the USB bits with ethernet ones?

I'm right with Newt on this too. Please don't use any of these crappy USB gizmos that ISPs give or rent to you. Much better to buy a real ADSL router and connect your PC using proper ethernet or 802.11g. I would avoid Tiscali like a hingoot wi' scabies

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Errr its a Nintendo Usb access point, to link a Nintendo DS handheld game machine

to the internt. Its not a router as such ;)

here

Very cool but when installed it knocks out the networked pc :(

I could go out and get a router and create a hot spot, but just for a nintendo game

its a bit of a waste. The 2nd pc is only 3' away.

Oh well, shall keep investigating.
