That looks very much like one made by Casting in Wood. I had one which is the picture in my avatar which had gone through some form of ageing process as can be seen in the pictures below but in my opinion the build quality was not that good so I sold for a decent price as the Casting in Wood reels do have a collector following.

You might be right there Paul, I hadn't thought of casting in wood reels.

Who's made the bottom reel ? Can't be a CL as the screw heads on the line lays arn't aligned :).

Hi Ian, I found it on the net quite some time ago and it apparently was made by a company called Claro Precision Engineering who just happen to be based in Knaresborough same as Chris Lythe. It appears they have done a few different reel prototypes in the past and if you look at the make up of the 1915 there are a lot of similarities.

This is the company

They are also tied up with this company in making prototypes.

It would certainly be cost effective to have a reel prototyped and iron out any issues before setting up for production runs.

I think this is more of a Witcher replica than the Lythe 1915. The only difference I can see is that the drum retaining fork is at the front of the reel and not the back, other than that everything else is the same, calliper ratchet spring, riveted line bearers and handles, reel foot mounting integral with the backplate, fake patina etc. Even the reel foot dimensions look the same.

I saw this and was going to have a punt, not worried about the no-name branding, if it works as good as it looks it could be a very nice centrepin.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back
