Big Perch

A great catch, a great-looking fish and one of the most impressive perch pics I've ever seen! Yes, it was held out towards the camera, but at least the length was given.

Great fish.

Using 6lb line for lure fishing along the edge of an ice slelf is a bit dodgy though - not a lot of chance of staying conected if a pike grabs the lure and goes for a swim.

With Bara, we found that a little flex (arching the fish's back slightly) would get the fin to stand uo for a photo.

"Hard to believe that fish is "only" 5lb !!??

It's much wider than the bloke's shoulders, and half the depth of his chest !

Looks like a 20 to me. Is there a typo in the article?

Does it also set a record for the most product mentions in a single catch report?"

He's doing the old hold-it-at-arms-length-to-make-it-look-massive trick. No need as it's massive anyway!

Notwithstanding the fish being held at arm's length and photographed with a wide-angle lens, it's clear that the perch is colossal - it looks every ounce of 5lb-plus. Good quality picture, too, with the fish in perfect focus and the angler in satisfactory focus. Beautiful colours on the perch; absolutely magnificent fish.

I'm rarely envious of other anglers' catches, but I think I'll make an exception in this case!
