Yes, none other than THE Mississippi !!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a bit bigger than the Cam. That's Arkansas on the opposite bank, Memphis, Tennessee on this side.

 

And yes, possibly storm damage??

If you were standing by that tree and had a really good pitching arm, throwing a rock about 45 miles to the west and ever so slightly north would give you a good chance of hitting the town where I grew up.

 

The river is a smidge over one mile wide at that point.

When you said Memphis I thought - Tennessee? our Tennessee? Newt and I were just North of there at the end of November. We've actually gone across that bridge. What you doing in this part of the world?

Elvis, Graceland, Sun Studio, Beale Street etc.

1st trip to the USA not the last I hope.

A spur of the moment decision, as our daughter is having a bad time just now, so we thought a trip to Memphis and doing the Elvis thing might cheer her up, and it did.

Almost arrested for taking photos in Wolfchase shopping mall.

Sun Studio was brilliant and the milkshake in there was the best I've ever tasted.

Too much food on offer. The waitress couldn't believe I only wanted a bowl of cereal for breakfast.
