Bad practice? Youtube content

Watched this video of a fella calling himself ScreaminDelkims.

If you can bear to watch this guy @ 20:20 he gets a run but doesn't hit it until 23:00.

If I waited that long on the waters I fish,I'd be trying to get the deep hooks out of a pikes throat.

Bad practice?

sadly youtube is full of bad practice...I dare say people think a lot of my footage is bad practice.

some of it comes down to personal opinion....some of it down to different standards...some of it down to just plain ignorance!

for me I don't agree with having 3 rods out; how long he waits or his handling of the pike.

Devil's advocate - the pike was not deep hooked, so there is nothing to complain about.

Having said that, I would have probably picked up the rod and felt for the fish long before he struck. But in the past I have left it that long - probably longer - to strike, on days when pike are being finicky. I don't think it's possible to put an absolute time limit on when you should hit bites.

Dick Walker once wrote a piece on pike stating his grandfather used to give the pike ten minutes - by his watch.:nono:

id class the first run as a proper run and hit it straight away. going by what he says and does as he's getting bleeps wanting it to keep on going until its shat out the trebles.

his only saving grace it didnt get deep hooked is most likely down to how small the pike was and was probably self hooked from the first beep.

yes very bad practice imo.

Given how much he had to wind in to connect with the fish he had no chance of detecting it running anyway.

I had to fast forward, he's about the most annoying presenter I've ever had to endure
