This is the last call for this year's Fish-In! The deadline for applying for a place is 9am Wednesday.

I'll be sending out invitations in the next few days, although please note that I may not be able to accomodate you all. As I've already said, if this happens priority will be given to those who haven't already been.

To whet your appetites I fished 2 nights at Wingham this week. I went after the bream at night, switching to perch at dawn and dusk, before working on site during the day. No bream alas, but I did have 6 perch, one "two" and five "threes". In fact the 2 pounder was only the second perch that I've had under 3 pounds since last autumn!

What's even better is that a week before I'd had a perch of 3-06 that had a scar from a heron stab. On checking my records I see that I had the same fish last June at just 2-07! What a growth rate!!

Tony, yes tench are showing. Weve had some "eights" but no nines as yet.

Matthew, don't worry rules will be sent out with directions.

I was going to use maggot or caster and sweetcorn, for the Tench over a cereal ground bait from an open end feeder. Is this about right or should I get some worms as well?

I would presume the Tench Patrol the margins

Tony, I'd definitely get some worms. Yes, the tench do patrol the margins. In fact every swim that's been margin fished has produced tench.

Yes, I can get lobs, reds or dendras at £5 per quarter kilo. However, I'll need to have any orders by Tuesday of next week.
