Barbel Fish-in

Looking forward to this now, I'm going to take Friday afternoon off and drive down so hopefully I'll be there for tea time.

 

What's everyone doing wrt camping, are people bivvying up on the riverbank or the campsite?

Unfortunately there's not much rain forecast for the Avon's catchment area.

As far as I am aware the £6 day ticket will allow you to fish the night.

 

Evening tickets are £4 valid from 4 o'clock, i think.

 

There is some rain forcast this week, although not a lot, this will make no difference to the river.

 

The weekend is going to be fine, with no rain forecast and it will be a lot cooler than it has been with high's of 25. The temp at night by the river can drop by as much as 10 degrees so be warned, bring some warmer clothes with you.

 

With regards to the fishing, the Avon is probably fishing better than the other rivers around here.

Just need to know those that are camping, who will be staying on the site.

 

I will be staying on the river bank, I think most will be.

I'll be staying on the banks if that's what the majority are doing.

Doesn't look as if I'm going to be able to make it at all now - first it was having to work on Saturday, now an unforseen family commitment has popped up for Sunday.

 

I will get to a fish-in eventually....

The Avon has started to fish quite well with the little rain we have had, a little more is forecast so the weekend is looking good. I fished yesterday evening and had 4 Barbel upto 8lb and lost two good fish along with 13 Chub. The chub were being a nuisance and the tip did not stop moving all evening, as soon as the bait hit the bottom it was wandering all over the place.

My missus has now informed me she's got Saturday off. I'm hoping she'll come along for the weekend otherwise I might have to miss the Friday.
